Being from Texas and all, I had to throw that in up there. How are all my loyal follower(s)? It's been since June that I have graced this little text box with my unorthodox typing. (I never learned how to type correctly, and while I'm zippy as ever, I'm sure a typing etiquette master would cringe if they watched me).
It's already mid-September! Holy balls. I will be graduating from law school in 8 months, taking the bar in 10, and starting work (GOD I HOPE) shortly thereafter. I can't believe how fast the time has flown. It still feels like I just moved here yesterday, but I've been a CoMo (that's the lingo around here that I picked up) resident for over a year! There are still parts of this town that are black holes to me, so I hope I never end up near them or I'll get lost. Yes, in Columbia. A town of about 100,000 people. It took me almost my entire undergrad to successfully navigate all of College Station, so this is nothing new to me.
My job search hasn't yielded much yet, but that's to be expected. I just keep sending out resumes to jobs I'd like, and I have to hope that someone somewhere will give me a chance. I feel that overall, I'm qualified for most of the stuff I've applied for, it's just that the market is so intense right now, I'm up against some all-stars. We shall see! Keep your fingers crossed for me as I try to make it happen!
I'm at Panera downtown right now and it's freaking freezing. I was sitting at one of the lounge chairs, but I moved to a more secluded area where I wouldn't be as distracted by people, food, or the general shiny object. I just happened to pick a room that is literally 50 something degrees. It does provide a nice people watching view of the street outside. People watching is the best. I wonder if I typed my immediate impressions of people as they walked by and put it in book form, people would buy it. Probably not, but I would proudly display the first (and only) edition on my mantle.
Let's see, what else is new. (A lady just walked by pushing a pineapple in a stroller. I shit you not. A pineapple). I'm so very excited for all the opportunities I'll have this fall to see my friends! Showers, bachelorette parties, weddings; it will be so fun! My year 'o the bridesmaid kicked off with Leah's wedding in May (which was a great way to start; it doesn't get much better than seeing one of your best friends marry her perfect match!), next up is Holly's wedding, and then Ratch's will be the finale! I think some people dread being in weddings. Maybe I just haven't done it enough, but I think this is one of the few things in life that I'm not cynical about. Yes, it may cost you some money, and yes, it could take up some of your time, but I don't see how people can feel cynical when someone you love wants you to be a part of the biggest day of their life. To me, it's exciting :) I guess if you don't really like the bride it might be an issue, so word of warning, don't have friends that you don't really like. Duh.
Anyhoo, I think I have frostbite from this room. I might be exaggerating, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is. On that note, I'm going to publish this bad boy and be on my way. Happy Hump Day!
